Peter J. Yoon simply loves to pastor God’s people. After receiving an M. Div from Talbot Theological Seminary in La Mirada, CA (May, 1996), he met and married his beautiful wife, Jessica. He also loves fathering his 3 children: Nathan, Jason, and Abigail. Prior to joining Kairos Church, he served as an associate pastor at Church of Southland in Anaheim (2001-2011) where God used a variety of gifts and skills to start the Children’s Ministry, College Ministry, Young Adult Ministry, Cellgroup Ministry, and Missions Committee. By nature, Pastor Peter strives to be a dependable person. He goes out of the way to treat every person with the same amount of respect, care, concern, and hospitality. Generally, he is an easygoing and congenial person. Everyone he meets, he senses there is something good that God is doing in that person. He strives to create a sense of belonging and acceptance towards others and that usually leads to team-based ministries under his leadership. Pastor Peter has been influenced by his mentors, theological education, and sovereign foundations from the past. This has led to his pursuit of building up Kairos Church as a Gospel-centric church that is Word-centered, Spirit-filled, Missions-driven, and Community-based.
Phil graduated from UCSD with degrees in Management Science and Political Science. In those formative college years, he sensed God’s calling for him to follow Him wherever He would lead. He was also blessed to have met his beautiful wife, Esther. After working in finance and interning at Kairos for several years, he began attending Talbot Theological Seminary and received his M.Div while serving as the college pastor at Church of Southland. Five years later, he rejoins Kairos staff with Esther and their daughter, Olivia. Phil is passionate about discipleship and raising up leaders to wholeheartedly know and love God and is excited to join in on what God is doing in San Diego. In his spare time, he enjoys grabbing coffee, reading good books, or playing basketball.
Esther Chailim graduated with a B.S. in Management Science from UCSD in 2007. Shortly thereafter, in April 2008, she committed her life to Christ and quickly discovered a deep love and passion to serve the local church. In 2012, she served as a one-year AMI intern in Over-the-Rhine, Cincinnati and upon returning in August 2013, she joined the staff at Kairos. She has received an MA in Christian Ministry & Leadership at Talbot Theological Seminary and is currently serving as the Director of Ministries.
Jessica dedicated her life to Christ as a 3rd grader at a family retreat with Grace Korean Church. Since then, she has grown and served in many ministries - Sunday School Teacher, Welcoming Committee, Intercessory Prayer Team, Inner Healing Ministry, and Counseling. Her calling to full-time ministry was further developed when Jessica married Pastor Peter Yoon almost 20 years ago. They have three kids - Nathan, Jason, and Abby. She has been an elementary school teacher for 18 years and enjoys working with children. Jessica has a passion for education and helping students grow to meet their fullest potential. Jessica graduated from UCLA with a BA in Sociology and from BIOLA University with her MA in Education. She is currently serving as Kairos Christian Church's children's director.
Michelle was born and raised in San Diego and committed her life to Christ in elementary school. Throughout the years, the Lord has cultivated a heart in her to love and serve the local church. After graduating from UCSD with a B.S. in Psychology in 2020, she joined staff at Kairos as an intern and is pursuing an M.A. in Theology at Talbot Theological Seminary. She is passionate about discipleship, global missions, and raising up the next generation of worshippers who love the Lord and desire to grow in intimate relationship with Him. In her free time, Michelle loves to read, try new recipes, or sing.
Sandy, a proud Los Angeles native, moved to San Diego to work as a pharmacist after graduating University of the Pacific in 2017. In San Diego, she began attending Kairos and learned how God pursues an intimate love relationship with everyone. In 2019, by God's grace, she had the opportunity to serve as an AMI intern in Southeast Asia for a year. During her time there, God continued shattering what she once considered beautiful and began showing her what He considers beautiful. She’s so excited and grateful for this opportunity to learn more and serve at her home church and work in the pharmacy again in this season! Her favorite part of serving God is seeing people filled with joy as they experience His love for them. She loves her family, ice cream, LA sports, laughing, and adventures!

Zeb and Alice are two of the founding members of Kairos Christian Church. They met their freshman year at UCSD and were married in 2006. They have 2 children -- Mikaela, their compassionate and bright daughter, and Judah, their exuberant and fun-loving son. Zeb works as a Project Engineer at a local turbomachinery company and Alice works as a drug development scientist at a small biotech company. At Kairos, Zeb serves as the leader of the Inreach Ministry and provides missions administrative support, whereas Alice co-leads the intercessory prayer ministry. They desire to see the local church be a redemptive force that helps bring forth God’s kingdom in its community in a real and tangible way. They consider themselves foodies and look for opportunities to try out new (and sometimes bizarre) food.
Jessica is one of the founding members of Kairos and met Vince when he joined later in 2008. They got to know each other through serving as small group leaders, began dating and shortly thereafter Vince proposed under the stars (literally) at Griffith Observatory. They got married in San Diego and together they have two rambunctious boys, Malachi and Joshua. Jessica enjoys spending time with her kids baking, trying new crafts and DIY projects during her days off when she's not working as a family nurse practitioner and professor of nursing. Vince works as an engineer by day, and spends the rest of his time running his portrait photography business. Vince and Jess both love coffee, food and spending quality time with the family. Together they enjoy annual family trips/mission trips where they can appreciate more of God's creation and kingdom purposes.
Victor and Agnes are both native Californians. Victor was born and raised in San Francisco, while Agnes was born in Los Angeles and raised in San Diego. They married in 2007 in Santa Ana, CA. They now call San Diego home after joining Kairos Church in 2013, coming from the Church of Southland in Anaheim, CA. You can find both of them serving hand-in-hand together as deacons, small group leaders, and on the prayer team. Victor graduated with his PhD from UC Irvine, and now spends his time in the lab analyzing potential new therapeutics for a non-profit organization. Agnes served in the U.S. Army for 10+ years in the medical and legal field as a reservist. She is the Chief Operations Officer at the Law Offices of Jane Oak & Associates. Outside of work, they can typically be found outdoors, camping and hiking, or searching for another great place for food with others. Adventurers at heart, Victor and Agnes love to travel and immerse themselves into the culture of the area, and have a growing heart for missions.
Justin was born and raised in Orange County, California and went to college at UC Santa Barbara where he met the love of his life, Anna. They have been married since 2012 and have two compassionate and adventurous boys. Justin serves as a small group leader and assists in mentoring the PAIRS (married without kids) ministry. He recently went on missions to Vietnam and has a heart for the Vietnamese community. Justin owns a small accounting firm that aims to glorify God in helping other small businesses achieve a clear financial picture of their business and their goals. He loves skateboarding, camping, mountain biking, and pretty much anything you can do outdoors.
Jimmy is one of the earliest members at Kairos Christian Church. Raised in the bay area, he grew up in a non-denominational church and attended Kairos while at UCSD. After graduating, he met his amazing wife and best friend, Anna, and was married in 2015. Through his unique upbringing, Jimmy was given the opportunity to explore and think differently. He believes that strong evangelical teaching married to the spirit and love of God will bring redemption and salvation to our neighborhoods, cities, and nations. In his spare time, Jimmy enjoys scuba diving in warmer waters, snorkeling with the sharks, snowboarding and video gaming. Jimmy is a business evaluation specialist at a local consulting company and currently serves in the finance committee at Kairos Christian Church.
Lawrence joined Kairos Christian Church as one of the founding members. Lawrence moved from his hometown in the LA area to study medicine at UCSD, where he now works as a full-time physician.
