About Us

The name Kairos comes from the Greek meaning the appointed time or God’s time. It is used specifically in Mark 1:15 in relation to the drawing near of the Kingdom of God.

"14 Now after John had been taken into custody, Jesus came into Galilee, preaching the gospel of God, 15 and saying, "The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand; repent and believe in the gospel"

In a similar way, we believe that we live in a time of remarkable expansion of God’s Kingdom. It is our hope that God will use this church in His time to fulfill His will. As a church, we were planted in October of 2007 with the hope of becoming a multi-site congregation that would reach a diverse cross-section of San Diego.

Our Mission Statement

The mission of Kairos Christian Church is to be a part of a Gospel movement that results in personal transformation, community revival, social and cultural reform, and global renewal all for the glory of God.

Letter from our Lead Pastor, Mark Chun

When we started Kairos in October of 2006, we envisioned a church that would be filled with people who shared the same passion for the Gospel. It is our firm belief that the Gospel is the power of God and that this message not only changes individual lives but that it ultimately changes the world that we live in. It is our hope that the people of God would respond to the Gospel in such a way as to have our lives be transformed and for our lives then to make an impact. We know that the foundation of the Gospel is Christ who is our Cornerstone and that He died for a Community which is the Church and that He gave us the Great Commission which is our Call. When we share the common vision of pursuing Christ, building community, and fulfilling the commission, we will begin to realize the biblical model of the church. We hope that you will come and share in this pursuit of growing a Gospel-centered ministry.

Letter from our College Pastor, Walter Ko

Our vision for our college/campus ministry is to share the Gospel and to build up the body of Christ within collegians in San Diego. Our focus is to love God, and to love people. We minister by sharing the love of Christ, by prayer, and by teaching the Word of God. Currently we are on the campus of UCSD, but we hope and pray to expand our ministries to the other campuses of San Diego as well. Please join us as we minister to the people of San Diego, and around the world!

Our Partnership with Acts Ministries International

Kairos Christian Church is a member church of Acts Ministries International (AMI). The bond between the network of churched is a shared vision combined with a common spirituality. Acts Ministries International began in 2002 with a group of pastors who had a vision to restore the early church that was seen in Acts 2. We are glad to be a part of a community of churches seeking to model the spirituality, vision, and partnership exemplified in the book of Acts. AMI is committed to developing disciples of Christ within our churches, as well as spreading the gospel message to unreached people through church planting and missions work.
